Verdal municipality

Verdal municipality is widely known for its culture and history. The famous battle of Stiklestad in 1030 is one of the history’s most significant battles with far-reaching consequences right up to modern Norwegian society.

Stiklestad National Culture Centre has a varied cultural programme all year round. “Olsokdagene” – The Saint Olav Festival at Stiklestad in the end of July each year has become one of Norway’s largest cultural festivals.

More than 300 square kilometres of Verdal are located within the boundaries of the Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. There are ample opportunities for enjoying the great outdoors, including hunting and fishing in many parts of the municipality. Verdal River is one of the region’s best salmon rivers.

Visitors to the small town of Verdal will find pleasant shopping and meeting places with rich and varied cultural activities.
